Requirements: The chat status function is only available if it has been enabled in the network administration. The ‘Hidden’ option is also only available if the setting ‘Set by users’ has been selected.
Users can set the following statuses to provide other users with customised information about their own availability:
- ‘Online’ or ‘Busy’ status
- Status text
- ‘Hidden’ status
A user’s status is shown in the chat by a green dot (online) or a yellow dot (busy). A user who is offline is shown without a dot. If a user selects the status ‘Hidden’, no online status is displayed in the chat for that user.
If the chat is expanded, users can click on the ‘Status’ button to edit their status. This is done by clicking on the coloured dot and then selecting the desired status.
The status text can be edited in the text field to the right. Click on the tick to save the new text. You can remove a text from the status by clicking on the bin icon. The status text appears at the top of the chat window directly under the name of the chat partner when you start a conversation with a person.
How to enhance collaboration
Use the status text in your network´s chat to inform other users about absences, e.g. when you are on vacation. For example, add the message “I´m on vacation from xx to xx. I will get back to after my return.”
