Mute chat #
Chats can be muted for a specified date range.
During the specified date range, the user will not receive any notifications about new messages in the selected chat. However, the user can follow the conversation feed as needed when the chat is open.
To mute chats, the respective chat window must be open. Once there, you can see the context menu next to the user name or group in the top right-hand corner. Click on the menu to open the various mute options. The mute setting can also be manually removed as necessary via the context menu. By clicking on the menu, the ‘Remove muting’ option becomes visible and can be selected.
Common use cases
Muting chats is possible at any time. This can be helpful if, for example, you are member of a group where a discussion is happening that your not currently taking part in. Muting the group chat will then avoid unnecessary distractions.
For one hour #
The first option allows the user to mute the chat for an hour. One hour is the shortest date range. Once the hour has elapsed, the notifications are displayed again and the speaker icon disappears.
For the rest of the day #
The second option allows the user to mute the chat for a day. At the end of the day, the notifications are displayed again and the speaker icon disappears.
For the rest of the week #
The third option allows the user to mute the chat for a week. At the end of the week, the notifications are displayed again and the speaker icon disappears.
