If you are in the direct message module, you can access the message function by clicking on ‘New message’ in the top right-hand corner.
A new message consists of the following possible components:
- Recipient
- Subject
- Message text
- File attachments
Click on ‘Send’ to send your message. Click on ‘Cancel’ to return to the inbox without saving the message.
Search for recipients #
The first step when creating a message is to search for recipients. The following options are available:
- Message to an individual member
- Message to several members
- If group admin: Message to a group
- If network admin: Message to all members
When you enter the first few letters in the input field, suggestions appear from which you can choose directly.
To all users #
The option to send messages to the members of the entire network is reserved for network admins. Depending on the size of the network, this function triggers the sending of a large volume of emails. This can lead to problems with email servers that are not designed for this.
Subject #
Enter the desired subject for the message in the subject field.
This appears as the subject both in the inbox of the direct message module and in the notification email, provided the recipient has activated this.
Message text #
The message text field includes a formatting tool bar for creating a customised message text.
File attachments #
Use the ‘Upload files’ button to add locally saved files to the message.
Click on the button to open your own files and then select the desired file(s).
