Each user requires an active Microsoft Office 365 license.
General #
If configured, it is possible to view or (jointly) edit files which have been uploaded to the network via Microsoft Office 365. The relevant buttons are on the file details page.
The “Edit” button is only available if the respective user has the necessary permissions to edit files.
Authentication #
To use Microsoft Office 365 integration, the user must have an active Microsoft Office 365 license. The first time the user views or edits a file, the login credentials for this licence (email address and password) will be requested. Once these have been correctly entered and accepted, the integration can be used to (jointly) edit documents. Login credentials must only be entered once.
Edit #
Click on the “Edit” button to be redirected to the editing mode of a Microsoft Office 365 online file. This opens a new browser tab.
Any changes made to the online file are automatically saved when the window is closed, provided there is an internet connection. A new file version appears in the tixxt version history.
New versions generated via Microsoft Office 365 integration are displayed as “minor” versions in the version history (e.g. v2.3 → version 2 of the file with 3 versions generated by O365).
Joint editing #
If several people are online at the same time using the “Edit” button in Microsoft Office 365 editing mode, they can follow each other’s activities live in the document.
As soon as the last user has exited the editing mode, a new version of the document is created in tixxt.
View #
Click on the “View” button to be redirected to the view mode of a Microsoft Office 365 online file. This opens a new browser tab.
The following programs are supported:
- Word Online
- Excel Online
- PowerPoint Online
This mode is only used to open and view the file and is always available to every user.
