The widget bar can be found to the right of the group’s feed and can be configured by the group admin with customised info blocks.
If the network admin has defined a standard widget bar for groups, then this is the starting point for editing. Otherwise, the group admin starts with an empty widget bar.
Configure widget bar #
The interface is operated via drag & drop, allowing the individual elements to be moved by clicking and holding.
The right-hand column contains all the available info blocks from which you can choose to create a customised configuration. To do this, drag the respective block into the column in the centre and drop it there. Once you have placed the block, a menu opens on the right in which various settings can be made depending on the type of info block.
Available widgets #
Administrators #
Displays the admins of the respective context: If the block is added to the group widget bar, the group admins are displayed. The menu on the right allows you to create a headline that is displayed above the admins. You can also select profile fields to be displayed as additional information for the people shown.
Appointments #
Displays different upcoming appointments for the user depending on the configuration.
In addition to a headline displayed above the appointments, you can also select various calendars:
- All calendars: Displays all upcoming appointments from all the user’s calendars. The number of appointments displayed depends on the limit selected under ‘Amount of entries’.
- Personal calendars: Displays the user’s own upcoming appointments from their personal calendars. The number of appointments displayed depends on the limit selected under ‘Amount of entries’.
- Specific calendars: Allows you to select from all calendars available in the respective context. For example, you can select an existing group calendar in the group’s widget bar. The number of appointments displayed depends on the limit selected under ‘Amount of entries’.
- Group calendars: Displays all appointments for the user from group calendars in which they are member. The number of appointments displayed depends on the limit selected under ‘Amount of entries’.
Birthdays #
Displays upcoming birthdays of group members together with a link to the respective profile. The menu on the right allows you to create a headline that is displayed above the user list.
Using the limit in ‘Amount of entries’, you can limit how many users with an upcoming birthday are displayed. You can use ‘Show age’ to decide whether to display only the date of birth without the year or also the age that the person will be on their birthday.
‘Profile fields’ can be used to determine whether additional information from the user’s profile should be displayed in addition to their name and birthday.
Group information #
Displays the most important meta data of the group. In addition to the headline for this info block, you can also choose from the following group profile content:
- Group name
- Teaser
- Description
- Group logo
The info block can be set using Markdown. A description of the possible variables can be found in the widget settings.
Newest users #
Displays the newest members of the group.
The menu on the right allows you to create a headline that is displayed above the user list. Using the limit in ‘Amount of entries’, you can limit how many users are displayed. ‘Profile fields’ can be used to determine whether additional information from the user’s profile should be displayed in addition to their name.
Users online #
Displays uers currently logged in to the network.

RSS #
Allows the inclusion of an RSS feed in the widget bar.
The menu on the right allows you to create a headline that is displayed above the feed. The link to the feed to be included can be entered under ‘URL’. Using the limit in ‘Amount of entries’, you can limit how many entries are displayed.
Speed dial #
If this widget is configured by the group admin, each member of the group has the possibility to create their own favourites list here to be able to access the respective profiles quickly. To add a person to the favourites list, the user opens the profile of the respective person and clicks on ‘Add’ in the context menu at the top right. This person then appears permanently in the user’s widget bar.
Using the limit in ‘Amount of entries’, you can limit how many users can be added to the list. ‘Profile fields’ can be used to determine whether additional information from the user’s profile should be displayed in addition to their name.
Text #
Allows the inclusion of a text field in the widget bar.
The menu on the right allows you to create a headline that is displayed above the field. Text fields can either be configured as ‘text only’ or include formatting via HTML or Markdown. This allows for example to include profile pictures, links or formatted text. It is also possible to use a text field without a headline as a separator within the widget bar.
Under ‘Format’, please select if the text field contains Text/HTML (filtered) or Markdown.
