Requirements: none
Comments can be written on your own posts and on those of other users. It is also possible to attach files/images to your comments in the same way as you create posts. Comments can also be edited afterwards. The network administration can specify whether comments are sorted by “Newest first” or “Oldest first.”
Add a comment #
Users with permissions can leave comments on a post. Clicking on the ‘Add a comment’ field opens an editor. A text can be written and formatted in this field in the same way as in a post.
Translate #
If this function is available on the network, the user can click on the ‘Translate’ icon on the bottom right of a comment to have it translated automatically via DeepL. Clicking on the icon opens a context menu in which preselected languages are displayed. The option ‘More’ displays all other available languages. By clicking on the desired language, the total comment is translated into this language and a small notice ‘(translated)’ is added to the text. Use the ‘Show original’ option to reset the text to the original language.
The translation is only visible to the logged-in user and is reset to the original language when the page is reloaded or after a new login.
Please note that the translation is purely a machine translation via the DeepL integration. tixxt has no influence on the translation quality.
Attach a file to a comment #
You can add file attachments to comments using the file icon on the right below the comment editor. The process is identical to that of attaching files to a post.
Attach images to a comment #
The image icon on the right below the comment editor can be used to add individual images or image galleries to a comment. The process is identical to that of attaching images to a post.
Quote comment #
Selecting the “Quote comment” option in the context menu for a comment generates a new comment that contains the previously selected comment as a quote. The quoted text is located above the text editor for the new comment. Clicking on the “x” removes the quote.
Edit comment #
Comments can also be edited afterwards. The appropriate option can be found in the context menu, which can be opened at the bottom right of the comment. Here you can edit text as well as attached images and files.
You can only edit your own comments. Only network admins have permission to edit any comment.
Delete comment #
To delete a comment, use the context menu at the bottom right of the comment to access the ‘Delete comment’ function.
All users can delete their own comments. Group admins can also delete comments from any user in their own groups. Network admins can remove any comments.
Direct link to comment #
The ‘Copy link to the comment’ function can be found in the context menu at the bottom right of the comment. By clicking on this, a link is generated that leads to this comment in the feed.
