Feed

Requirements: none

Info text: The feed is the main communication channel in the network. It keeps users up to date and allows them to view the published content of other network members.

By clicking on the ‘globe icon’ in the left module bar, the user is taken to the posts module. The desired feed can then be opened via the context bar. By default, two feeds are visible to the user under ‘Content’.

My feed #

This feed contains all posts visible to the user. Below this, the following posts are displayed in chronological order:

  • posts in the general post history
  • posts from groups in which the user is a member
  • blog posts from subscribed channels (only if the channel module is activated and a subscription to a channel exists)

Global feeds #

A global feed, including the posts published in it, is visible to all standard users of the network as soon as they are registered. No special membership is required. The standard name of this feed is ‘Posts for all’. This may vary depending on the configuration of the network and there may also be several global feeds (posts).

The post editor is located at the top of each feed.

Just below it is the filter bar. In addition to the ‘All’ option, which displays all posts in the feed, there are also the options ‘Unread’, ‘Mentioned’, ‘Discover’ and ‘Filter’.

Common use cases

Additional global feeds: Message from the Board

We can set up an additional global feed for you, for example for a channel that exclusively posts messages and insights from the CEO. Maybe even include the entire Board, to get different perspectives! Having a dedicated channel for communications from the senior leadership allows you to share critical communications and address internal issues in a timely manner. The channel can serve as a central hub for topics and messages that a relevant for everyone in the organisation. Topics may include quarterly results, planning for company events, current news affecting the organisation and much more. Your members will greatly appreciate the added transparency!

Unread #

If a user opens a new post in the feed, it is highlighted in colour for the first few seconds. A ‘1’ also appears in the filter bar under ‘Unread’. If there are several unread posts, the corresponding number is displayed. Once the post has been on the user’s screen for a few seconds, the background colour disappears. The post is now considered to have been read and is no longer displayed under ‘unread’.

By selecting the ‘Mark all as read’ function, the ‘unread’ filter can be completely cleared with a single action.

Mentioned #

By clicking on ‘Mentioned’ in the filter bar, you can view all the posts in the current feed in which you have been mentioned.

Discover #

By clicking on ‘Discover’ in the filter bar, a dropdown appears with three further options:

1. Recommended: The ‘Recommended’ option displays all posts that have been recommended by network members. A post can be recommended via the context menu by the group admin or by the network admin in the global feed. Recommended posts are marked with a flag icon in the top right-hand corner.

2. Subscribed: The ‘Subscribed’ option displays all posts from people to whom the user has subscribed.

3. Pinned: Clicking on ‘Pinned’ displays all those posts that have been pinned (either permanently or with confirmation) by network members.

Filter #

Clicking on ‘Filter’ displays additional options:

Interactions:

1. Favourited: By clicking on ‘Favourited’, the user is shown all posts that they have personally marked as a favourite via the context menu on the post.

2. Liked: By clicking on ‘Liked’, the user is shown all posts that they have liked via the context menu on the post.

3. Commented: By clicking on ‘Commented’, the user is shown all posts that they have commented on.

Filter by post type:

1. File: Clicking on ‘File’ shows the user all posts in the current feed that contain a file attachment.

2. Appointment: Clicking on ‘Appointment’ shows the user all appointment posts in the current feed

3. Question: Clicking on ‘Question’ shows the user all question posts in the current feed.
