Post Options

After creating a post in a feed, there are various options for interacting with it or editing it, depending on the user’s permissions.

Translate #

If this function is available in the network, the user can use the ‘Translate’ icon at top right of a post to have it translated automatically via DeepL. Clicking on the icon opens a context menu in which preselected languages are displayed. The option ‘More’ displays all other available languages. By clicking on the desired language, the total post is translated into the selected language and a small notice ‘(translated)’ is added to the text. Use the ‘Show original’ option to reset the text to the original language.

Beitragsmodul_Beitrag_DeepL

The translation is only visible to the logged-in user and is reset to the original language when the page is reloaded or after a new login.

Please note that the translation is purely a machine translation via the DeepL integration. tixxt has no influence on the translation quality.

Like #

The user can interact with the post below the post content. Use the ‘thumbs up’ button to like a post. The post creator receives a notification that the post has a like if they have configured this in the notification settings. You can also see which other network members have already liked this post.



How to motivate your user base

Leave a “Like”. Good content deserves it!

Clicking the “Like” button or a quick “thank you for sharing” is free, but all the more motivating: It is praise for the creator of the content, who, after all, took the time to create it. Plus, all other users will notice the appreciation. This may convince people to themselves contribute to the conversation.

Share #

Another interaction option below the post is sharing. Clicking on ‘Share’ copies the current post and inserts it as an attachment in the post editor. The user can then add their own text of post and publish the shared post. The shared post will be marked separately in the final post.

Direct link #

By clicking on ‘Copy link’ in the context menu of the post, a direct link to post is copied to the clipboard. The link can be inserted anywhere you wish. Accessing the post via this link is of course still only possible for logged-in users who have the permission to do so.

Favourite #

Clicking on ‘Favourite’ allows users to add particularly important posts to the ‘Favourited’ filter.

Edit #

If the user is the post creator or a context admin, the ‘Edit’ function is the second option of the context menu. This makes it possible to edit the text of post.
An editor window opens again, offering the same options as when the post was initially created. Click on ‘Save’ to update the post.

Manage file attachments #

If the user is the post creator or a context admin, the ‘Manage file attachments’ function is the third option of the context menu.
This function makes it possible to edit the file attachments, i.e. add or delete them. A modal opens in which the files already attached to the post are displayed. These can be removed by using the ‘x’ to the right of the file name. Additional attachments can be added using ‘Add files’ or ‘Select existing files’. Click on ‘Save’ to update the post.

Manage images #

If the user is the post creator or a context admin, the ‘Manage images’ function can be found in the fourth position of the context menu.
As with ‘Manage file attachments’ above, the attached images can be edited here.
Click on ‘Save’ to update the post.

Remove link preview #

If there is a link with a link preview in a post, the ‘Remove link preview’ function can be found in the fourth position in the context menu. By clicking on this menu item, the link preview can be removed from the post later on. However, clicking on this function deletes the preview permanently and the action cannot be undone.

Change visibility #

If the user is the post creator or a network admin, the ‘Change visibility’ function can be found in
A modal opens that allows you to add additional visibilities for the post or remove visibilities. As when creating the post, the user can only select feeds (posts) in which they have permission to publish posts.
Click on ‘Save’ to update the post.

Change author #

Requirements: tixxt Enterprise, IndividualCloud Enterprise, IndividualCloud Maxx

If the ‘Change author’ function has been activated in the administration, the ‘Change author’ option is available to network administrators in the context menu of the post. A modal opens that can be used to select a network member as the new author of the post. The user receives a notification email about this action. Click on ‘Save’ to update the post.

How to enhance collaboration

Change author

This function allows you to have a post written by an assistant or a community manager and then publish the post in the name a Board Member. Naturally, this requires close communication regarding the content and timing of the publication and the explicit permission of the person.

Best practices for using the “Change Author” function:

  • Write posts ahead of time and publish them on a fixed date. Collect topics and write down spontaneous ideas, for example on your phone, notepad etc.
  • Consider recycling content that was previously posted by the person on other channels. For example, in a LinkedIn post. This removes some of the need for close communication, as the content was already posted somewhere else by the person.
  • Coordination is key! Absolutely avoid a situation where the Board Member is unaware of the post published in their name. It is therefore critical to have an agreement on what is posted when.
  • Prepare the post in a non-public group: Write and publish the post in that group. After finalising the post, change the author of the post and add the visibility for the target group.

Recommend post as email #

Recommend activity via email (internally) #

This function is only available to group admins. The selected post is then sent to all members of the group via email which allows it to be highlighted once again.
Clicking on this opens a modal that can be used to configure the email recommendation. You can configure the headline for the email and add an additional message. The ‘Visibility’ field shows all the groups in which the post is located and in which the user has admin rights. Visibility can also be removed here if the post should not be recommended to all groups in which it was published.

Further down in the modal, depending on the network configuration, you also have the option to recommend the post to the consumers in the group, include comments on the post or send files as email attachment.

Recommend activity via email (externally) #

If this has been configured for the network, the option ‘Recommend activity via email (externally)’ can also be found in the context menu of the post. Here you can enter the email addresses of people who are not registered in tixxt. These people receive the post by email, but they do not have permission to be active in the network.

Further down in the modal, depending on the network configuration, you also have the option to include comments on the post or send files as email attachment.

By clicking on ‘Send as email now’, the emails are sent to the selected target group(s).

Nominate for newsletter #

Requirements: tixxt Enterprise, IndividualCloud Enterprise, IndividualCloud Maxx

If the newsletter function has been activated in the network administration, network admins have the option to bookmark posts for the upcoming newsletter in the context menu.

If the post has been bookmarked, the mailbox icon is displayed to the left of the three dots in the context menu. This indicates that the post will appear in a newsletter. If you move the mouse over this icon, you can see which newsletter it is in.

If a post has been bookmarked for the upcoming newsletter, you can remove the bookmark in the context menu by clicking on ‘Remove from newsletter’.

If the post has already been sent in a previous newsletter, you can bookmark the post again in the context menu for the next newsletter.

Print this #

Using ‘print this’, all users can export a post as a PDF and print it.

Pin post #

Users must have admin rights in the relevant context to pin a post.
A pinned post appears collapsed in a coloured box at the top of the feed.

Users can confirm and hide post #

As per default settings, pinned posts can be set to ‘Users can confirm and hide posts’. Each user can mark them as read by clicking on ‘Hide post’ after expanding them. This also removes the pin from the post for them.

Permanent, no user can hide this post #

If configured by the network admin, posts can be pinned permanently. In this case, it is not possible for the individual user to acknowledge the post. The post can only be unpinned again by a context admin.



Common use cases

Pin post

If a post has been pinned, it will always show on the top of the feed for all users, regardless of whether it is the latest post. This can be useful, for example for onboarding documents, a word of greeting for new members or important guidelines.

Follow via email #

If this option is selected, the user receives an email notification when there is new activity on the post. Activities are: new comments and new replies to questions or polls.
If activated in the notification settings, this notification is automatically selected for the creator(s) of a post and for users who have commented on or answered a post. If you no longer wish to receive notifications, you can remove the checkmark manually.

Export results as CSV / Export results as XLSX #

Those who create the polls, group administrators and network administrators have the option of exporting the results as CSV or XLSX files. This allows the results to be analysed in more detail. The ‘Voted For’ column in the downloaded file indicates whether the person downloading the file has voted in the poll or not. In the case of anonymous polls, the downloaded file does not contain any names or user IDs.

Close poll #

Polls can be closed by the creator or the section administrator via the context menu. It is no longer possible to vote from this point on.

Add tags #

You can add additional tags to other users’ posts via ‘Add tags’. These tags differ in colour from those of the post creator(s) in order to identify their origin.

If this function is activated, users are given the opportunity to report content via the context menu due to possible violations of the terms of use. By clicking on ‘Report post’, an input window opens where the user is asked to enter details about the reported post (mandatory information):

  • Type of problem: (Selection: unacceptable content posted, too pushy or aggressive advertising posted, general problem)
  • Details about your report: (enter your own text)

By clicking on ‘Submit’, the report is sent to the network admin; clicking on ‘Cancel’ discards the report.

beitragsmodul_kontextmenü_beitrag melden

Using the ‘Info-i’ at the bottom left of the page, the user also has the possibility to report additional content. Clicking on ‘Report content’ also opens an input window as described above. An additional mandatory entry is required here:

  • Link to content (Links to posts or comments can be copied to the clipboard via the context menu)

Hide posts by user #

This function in the context menu of the post makes it possible to hide all posts written by this specific user.
An overview of all users who have been hidden can be found in the dropdown in your profile under ‘Hidden posts’. You can also use the main page to undo the hidden status.

Delete post #

The ‘Delete’ function is only available to admins of the respective context and post creators. Deleting a post also deletes all interactions. This recommendation can’t be undone.
